Swiss National Day feels very much like the 4th of July back in the States. There are fireworks going off for days leading up to the 1st and every neighborhood lights a very large bonfire to celebrate. Or to cook sausages. Probably for both reasons knowing the Swiss. We let the girls stay up late after a day at the pool and I digress for a moment but the pool the girls love has an indoor ropes course elevated above the big indoor pool that kids can climb across. It also has a pirate ship "stranded" in the deep end of the pool that the kids can play on. Summers here are pretty hard to beat!

Hello / Goodbye
I just returned from the States and we are headed to Germany and Austria on Friday. I had a lovely time with my family and I owe it all to Rob. He watched the girls for two weeks and there's just no way I could've spent this quality time with my sister and Dad if he hadn't been so willing to take on so much work. Thanks, Rob!
My nephew, Scott, is an absolute joy as is his sister, Elizabeth. Daphne and Brett are doing great despite the lack of sleep that comes from having a new baby in the house. The weather while a scorcher in Philadelphia didn't stop us from packing up and finding good homes for some of my mother's more prized possessions. I liked Freecycle before this trip but after finding someone who couldn't wait to have my mother's turtle collection, I like it even more.
The best part of the whole trip was coming home. I missed my girls and Rob terribly. The girls spent yesterday afternoon riding their scooters, swinging, and playing in the fountain at Grace's soon to be elementary school. Ah, it feels so good to be home!

Last Day of School
Tomorrow is Grace's last day of kindergarten and to kick off the summer, her class took a field trip last week to the Zürich Zoo. Below are a few shots of Grace's class and Grace's best friend, Felicity. I leave for the states in less than a week for two weeks sans my kids and then we're off to Vienna for a few nights upon my return. We'll wrap up our summer break with a few nights at our favorite kinderhotel also in Austria. Wishing everyone a relaxing, fun, and warm summer!
