The Pledge of Allegiance

I was reading through the newsletter from Grace's school this evening. There was a column stressing the importance of arriving on time. The children start their days promptly at 8:45 in the morning with "circle time." During this time, calendars are updated, the weather is discussed, the Pledge of Allegiance is said, and songs are sung. It was great to get this insight into how Grace starts her day at school. I asked her if she knew the Pledge of Allegiance and to my surprise she did. She's also very good at drawing people now, thanks to her friend Parker. An element of a typical Montessori class is that the class is made of children covering a three-year age span. Parker is 4 1/2 and mentors Grace. I hope Parker like to makes her bed and cook.

Grace & Nico

My good friend Ronnie and her son Nico came over for dinner on Sunday. Grace and Nico spent the evening making Grace's Polly Pockets do push-ups, playing the piano, and painting in the dark. They played so well together which is always the best reward after a long day as a parent.

Bisabuelo

Grace and Ally had a special visit from their Bisabuelo Mario and their Aby, Virginia. Mario traveled all the way from La Paz, and was rewarded with his very first time seeing Ally. The two of them hit it off wonderfully.

Family & Friends

Get ready for some pictures. We just spent a couple of weeks at home with our family and friends and we look forward to seeing them again next year in Zurich! Grace and Ally's Aby and Bisabuelo, Mario, arrive on Saturday and we already have the weekend planned! Dinner at the Brazilian Greenforest restaurant is a must.

I asked Grace what she was whispering to Curious George in the picture below. She said she told him about Polly Pocket! Grace has been obsessed with getting her hands on this toy and I'm obsessed with keeping it as far away from Ally as possible. Is there an easy way to keep toys separated? I don't want Grace to not have toys she's earned from babysitting (aka not injuring her sister when I turn my back) but I also don't want to have to try and keep an eye on these microscopic toys.
