Grüezi Zürich

We're almost there. After at least a year's worth of planning, we'll be in our temporary home in Zurich a week from tomorrow. Thanks to my friends who have so patiently listened to me drone on about this move. The house has been sold, goodbyes said, and it's with much excitement (and a little nervousness) that we all look forward to this adventure. We'll be offline for a little bit but will return with pics of our new "home."

The Beads

In Grace's classroom they use colored beads on stiff wires to teach different math principles. The beads are numbered one through nine, and each number has a different color. Below are examples of Grace learning the square root of numbers.

The beads are also used to teach the children about geometric shapes. Beads can be counted and then arranged in ascending order to form triangles, or  the shapes can be arranged together to form other shapes i.e., rhombus. Neat, right? I hope all of her lessons are this enjoyable!

The Ladies Are Here

The butterflies have emerged and are acclimating well. We will release them once the weather gets above 55 degrees. Doesn't it look like the bear in the corner of the picture wants to eat them?
