My sister, Daphne, and her sweet family came to visit for a couple of weeks over the Christmas break. We decided to rent a chalet in Klosters/Davos and try to go skiing even though it's still relatively early in the season. Skiing in Switzerland was always on my bucket list and I can happily say after almost five years here it's still something we enjoy very much. We lucked out and were able to ski (one run and on artifical snow) for a couple of days. The kids all had a blast and Scott, my 3 year old nephew, learned how to ski thanks to his very patient Dad, Brett.
Ally and Lizzie took classes and participated in ski races. At the end of the week, the kids attended a medal ceremony. All of the teachers from the ski school gathered in the heart of Klosters. The ski school had music playing and were serving punch and hotdogs for the kids. Gluwein for the parents :-) The kids were awarded their medals and given their race times. It was a busy first week.
Rob cross country skied in Davos where National teams from several countries, including the U.S., were warming up for upcoming European competitions. It's difficult to find snow for cross country skiing because this is usually done at lower elevations but great pains were made to create a superb course for the National teams so Rob lucked out. He was so excited to be sharing the same track as these seasoned athletes and even had a brief conversation with Jessie Diggins.
