Pink Ukulele

We brought back a pink Ukulele from Colmar for Grace. She enjoys playing with Rob and Ally is happy being their enraptured audience of one. Maybe more depending on how many of her babies tag along for the impromptu concerts.

Date Night

Rob and I enjoyed a rare date night out and decided to head back to a restaurant that serves something unconventional by American standards. Pferd aka horse. It took me months to work up the courage to try horse but it is delicious. The horse steak is served rare on a hot stone on a plate with built in bowls for three sauces and a side of fries. You can eat the meat rare or cook it on the stone until it's well done. I prefer the latter. I also like cooking my own food. It was like a mini habachi and alot of fun.

Colmar, France

Rob's family pitched in and gave us a night away in Colmar, France for Rob's birthday. Virginia and family helped care for the girls while we were away. Colmar aside from being a quaint and beautiful town is also the birthplace of the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. We had 24 hours to do all things stereotypically French. And I think we succeeded. We had kir royales before dinner. Dined on moules, steak tartare and escargot. Gathered some cheese, bread, tapenade, a bottle of champagne from the region (Alsace) to enjoy in our room before heading out to a local restaurant.

I also experienced my first and hopefully not last fish pedicure. It was divine. The Garra Rufa consume dead skill cells and they are quite effective! It feels like dipping your feet into thousands of bubbles. Try it! Or better yet, come visit me and we can do it together. I definitely miss my girls day out and pedis. And now Colmar.

More Winter Days

Here's a pic from our balcony taken yesterday. What can you can't see is the Greifensee (Lake Greifen) in the distance beginning to freeze. Some local lakes are already frozen and open for winter fun. All of the schools are out for the annual sports holiday which means Grace will ski for the first time next week. Kids get two weeks vacation to go skiing!

OK Go - Needing/Getting

We are currently obssessed with this video by OK Go. My mother would not have appreciated what they do to some pianos in the name of making music.

Freezing Temps Outside

Warm homemade sugar cookies inside.
