Fastnacht

It's carnival time and Ally's playgroup celebrated with their own mini Fastnacht parade. We marched down our town's main street and into our local grocery store. The kids had noise makers and the butcher gave each child a piece of turkey. Afterwards the children sang a couple of songs in front of the Migros at the delight of those passing by and each child received a small piece of chocolate for all their hard work.

We are going to Basel next month to experience Switzerland's largest carnival. The Basel Fastnacht is also listed as one of the top 50 local festivities to see in Europe. It's big and we're excited to go!

How nice that the local stores get involved in the children's activities. You must end up knowing everyone!
